We Accept Custom Orders

Most of our orders at The Sweet Tea Art Studio are custom orders.  Often times people will see something they like and ask us to tweak it to their specifications–changing the verse, the colors, etc.–or they have a specific verse in mind and we work together to figure out the right look or image to accompany it.  Sometimes we even get orders to recreate something people have seen on Pinterest.  Whatever the case, we are happy to work on  your custom order too!  Simply share your vision with us and we will work together to help create a painting that is just right for you.

Below is an example of two custom orders.  Someone saw a picture on Pinterest of the “O Holy Night” print and asked me to recreate it in red with white text.  Then, someone else saw the finished print we made of the “O Holy Night”  in red.  They liked the look of the painting but wanted a different color with a special verse.  So they did a special order with Philippians 2:16 on a brown painting with white text.  The paintings are very similar but are specific to each customer’s needs.

So take a look around the site, visit our Facebook page and get inspired!  Our paintings make a great addition to your own home and they are also a perfect gift for any occasion.

The Plan

If you follow our Facebook page, you may have seen a beach canvas that I painted for a friend.

I love the quote that my friend chose for this piece:

“You go nowhere by accident.  Wherever you go, God is sending you.  Wherever you are, God has put you there.  He has a purpose in your being there.  Christ who dwells within you has something He wants to do through you where you are.  Believe this and go in His grace and love and power.” ~Reverend Richard C Halverson, Former Chaplain of the US Senate

What a great reminder!  We can live a life with purpose wherever we are.  It reminds me of Esther, in the Bible.  She is put into an extraordinary position, rising from ordinary to Queen. Haman, works to turn the king against the Jewish people, signing into law the destruction of the people.  Mordecai, encourages Esther to see that God has allowed her to rise to this royal position for this very moment and to go plead with the King for her people.  Easier said then done though!  Even as Queen, Esther could be killed for approaching the King without being invited…and she had not been invited. But Mordecai says,

“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” ~Esther 4:14

Esther would risk her life to enter the presence of the King because she believed God had brought her to this place, this position, FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.  And it’s not just for Esther or the people of the Old Testament times.  It’s for us.  It’s for today.  God has great purpose for His children–whether royalty, the stay at home mama covered in spit up, the car salesman, the pastor, the construction worker, the missionary, the little old lady with 3 cats, or the middle school kid who feels awkward in their own skin.  Use this time where you are, for great purpose.  Who can you love, who can you share with, who can you encourage, who is watching you live with integrity in the hard times.

Where does God have you (and me) …for such a time as this?

Sweet Summer

This year, I had the privilege of creating fun paintings for teacher gifts as a thank you for a wonderful year.  I love these mason jars, full of lemonade and the burlap canvas adds an unexpected texture and southern charm.  This was the first time that I was painting several pieces of the same image, so I created a painting assembly line.

It was fun to see all of these paintings slowly transform, taking shape as I added another element to each canvas.  This was the first time we’ve gifted teachers with my artwork.  I was thankful that my kids were excited to give their teachers a canvas.  I think I had been a little worried they would be wishing we had done our usual gift card purchases instead. Thankfully the kids were genuinely excited about their gifts and came home reporting that their teachers had really loved them.

My kids are now officially done with school and we are easing into summertime.  It’s a different kind of busy.  I’m currently completing two more custom orders and then I will be able to start stocking the shop with artwork that is available for purchase.  It’s been fun to start dreaming about pieces to work on.  As I get a stock of available artwork, I’m hoping to approach some local businesses about possibly displaying a couple of pieces.  I found a unique, local coffee store that is actually the store front for a Christian Learning Center.  It’s a neat little place.  The Christian Center is meant to be a place for students to gather to study and dialogue in a place that is supportive of the evangelical Christian perspective.  How perfect to have a cafe in front of a place like that!  Anyways, I don’t know if they need or want any local artwork but it’s a place that I have my eye on as a possible starting point. So, I’m working on multiple pieces and then ….business cards!  Add that on the list of things I never thought I’d do!  🙂
