Upcoming {Temporary} Shop Changes

we're moving

Huge news today!  The Sweet Tea Art Studio is moving {as is my family}!  We are really excited about what the Lord is doing in our family and through this shop.  As you know, we are currently living in Virginia, but the Lord has lead our family in a new direction.  This summer, we will be moving to North Carolina!  We are sad to leave but excited for all that the Lord has done and is doing.  As we prepare for our move, we will be temporarily close The Sweet Tea Art Studio to help us focus on packing and getting settled in.  Any current orders will be fulfilled as promised, but we will not be accepting any new orders until we have completely moved into our new space.  Thank you for your patience as we move.  We’re excited for what is ahead for us and for The Sweet Tea Art Studio.  We are hopeful for some new opportunities but our goal and vision remain the same.

Thank you for your continued encouragement and support.  We can’t wait to start cranking out artwork again for you this summer!  For the most recent news, check our Facebook page.

Songs of Praise

thensingsmysoul

The word “hymn” is derived from a Greek word, meaning “a song of praise”. By definition, a hymn is a song written for the express purpose of adoration or prayer. Hymns often evoke a sense of awe as we recall the majesty of God larger than our minds can comprehend.

I am embarking on a study of some hymns that I grew up hearing in church.  As I do so, I hope to share a bit of what I’m learning.  During this study, I will be releasing some special prints–some on canvas, some available as downloads.  I hope you will be encouraged as we journey together.
Do you have any favorite hymns? Is there a hymn that evokes a memory of something that God has done in your life? Have you ever studied the background of a hymn?

This print, “Then Sings My Soul”, is my gift to you.  Please enjoy this free download.  Click on the link below to access the .pdf file.

“Sing to the LORD a new song; Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.”

Psalm 96:1-2

He Shall Be Called

The first addition to the Art with a Purpose line is a five piece ornament set based on Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

These are small canvases that have a red with white polka dots ribbon for hanging. These ornaments would make a great addition to your Christmas ornaments or can be gift wrapped to make the perfect, one-of-a-kind gift! And at only $15, they are a great deal that benefits a great cause as well! These are limited release so order yours today before they are all gone!

Art with a Purpose

We are excited to launch a new line of artwork to the shop that is very near and dear to our hearts:  Art with a Purpose.  The mission of The Sweet Tea Art Studio is to brighten your home and encourage your heart.  We believe the best way to truly encourage the hearts of people is to remind them of the Truths found in the Word of God.  As we strive to provide beautiful artwork that is seasoned with God’s Truth, our heart is to also help people in the process.  As part of that aim, we are revealing our latest line of artwork called Art with a Purpose.  When you purchase a piece from the Art with a Purpose line, you are providing support to people in need.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Matthew 25:35

Currently funds will support Samaritan’s Purse.  Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational, evangelical Christian organization providing physical and spiritual aid to hurting people around the world. You may have heard of the Operation Christmas Child and perhaps packed a shoebox for Samaritan’s Purse.  If you would like to read more about what Samaritan’s Purse has done, who they are and projects they are working on, please visit here.  Our hope is that we can raise enough funds to provide a very practical and necessary item (or several items) to people in need, using their Christmas catalog.  For example, for just $14, we can provide baby chicks to an impoverished family.  These chicks would provide a family with both an ongoing source of nutrition and supplemental income.  This is a great organization and a great opportunity to provide very practical help for physical needs while also providing for spiritual needs as well.  Thank you for helping us love people in very practical ways!  We are so excited to see what the Lord will do through these efforts.

Click above on the Art with a Purpose button to see what is currently available for our Art with a Purpose listings.  You will also be able to get information on all upcoming fundraising efforts for other organizations.

We Accept Custom Orders

Most of our orders at The Sweet Tea Art Studio are custom orders.  Often times people will see something they like and ask us to tweak it to their specifications–changing the verse, the colors, etc.–or they have a specific verse in mind and we work together to figure out the right look or image to accompany it.  Sometimes we even get orders to recreate something people have seen on Pinterest.  Whatever the case, we are happy to work on  your custom order too!  Simply share your vision with us and we will work together to help create a painting that is just right for you.

Below is an example of two custom orders.  Someone saw a picture on Pinterest of the “O Holy Night” print and asked me to recreate it in red with white text.  Then, someone else saw the finished print we made of the “O Holy Night”  in red.  They liked the look of the painting but wanted a different color with a special verse.  So they did a special order with Philippians 2:16 on a brown painting with white text.  The paintings are very similar but are specific to each customer’s needs.

The Plan

If you follow our Facebook page, you may have seen a beach canvas that I painted for a friend.

I love the quote that my friend chose for this piece:

“You go nowhere by accident.  Wherever you go, God is sending you.  Wherever you are, God has put you there.  He has a purpose in your being there.  Christ who dwells within you has something He wants to do through you where you are.  Believe this and go in His grace and love and power.” ~Reverend Richard C Halverson, Former Chaplain of the US Senate

What a great reminder!  We can live a life with purpose wherever we are.  It reminds me of Esther, in the Bible.  She is put into an extraordinary position, rising from ordinary to Queen. Haman, works to turn the king against the Jewish people, signing into law the destruction of the people.  Mordecai, encourages Esther to see that God has allowed her to rise to this royal position for this very moment and to go plead with the King for her people.  Easier said then done though!  Even as Queen, Esther could be killed for approaching the King without being invited…and she had not been invited. But Mordecai says,

“For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” ~Esther 4:14

Esther would risk her life to enter the presence of the King because she believed God had brought her to this place, this position, FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS.  And it’s not just for Esther or the people of the Old Testament times.  It’s for us.  It’s for today.  God has great purpose for His children–whether royalty, the stay at home mama covered in spit up, the car salesman, the pastor, the construction worker, the missionary, the little old lady with 3 cats, or the middle school kid who feels awkward in their own skin.  Use this time where you are, for great purpose.  Who can you love, who can you share with, who can you encourage, who is watching you live with integrity in the hard times.

Where does God have you (and me) …for such a time as this?
